Du Fu is the most prominent poet during the glorious and middle age of Tang Dynasty. He inheritedthe law of the predecessors, and opened the source of the future generations for his prominent intelligenceand capability, so Yuan Zhen called it “possessed the ancient and modern style, and acquired the essence ofthe masters”. Many people praised his poems, but his poems on poetry were also concerned by thepredecessors. His Making Six Quatrains for Play blazed a trail of using quatrains to discuss poetry, andFang Hui in Yuan Dynasty imitated and got Thirty poems on Poetry. Du Fu’s poems of Ou Ti, Jie Men etcare all poems on poetry. This three sets of poems on poetry scattered in his whole poems on poetry andconstituted a whole literary theory of Du Fu.This paper researches Du Fu’s poems on poetry as a whole, based on the previous studies and usingthe macro perspective to explore, analyze and summarize Du Fu’s Poems on Poetry which embodied in hispoetic theory.This paper is divided into three parts: introduction, main text and conclusion.The Introduction section briefly describes the present situation and innovation of this paper.The main text is divided into three chapters. The first chapter classifies Du Fu’s poems on poetry asthrees parts, that is poems on the previous poetry, poems on the same generation poetry, poems on his ownpoetry, and analyzes each part briefly. The first part focuses on his acceptance and criticism to Qu Yuan andSong Yu. The middle part mainly analyzes the poems on poetry about Li Bai, Gao Shi, Meng Haoran fortheir great reputation and close relationship. The third part mainly analyzes Du Fu’s understanding andattitude on poetry.The second chapter is mainly on Du Fu’s discussion about Xie Lingyun, Bao Zhao and Yu Xin fromSix Dynasty, and arranges this three poets’ poems on poetry to glimpse their poem style and analyze theirimpact on Du FuThe third chapter is a discussion about the Du Fu’s poetry esthetics category. It is mainly divided intothree aspects, the first is about the discussion on the concept of "God", and the rest are about the discussionon the concept of "Qing" and "Hun Mang". The discussion on the concept of "God" is the key point of this chapter, mainly reveals the status of "God" in Du Fu’s poems and Du Fu’s pursuit for "God".The conclusion part summarizes the view of this paper.
