Stephen Zweig is one of the twentieth Century’s most popular German writer, whose literary worksof famous all over the world, his short stories more art is exquisite and description of nature is loved byreaders. Zweig’s short story contains rich ethical connotation. As a humanitarian, Zweig in his works, thepursuit of perfection, criticism and disharmony of evil. Because the life experience, from his early indulgein erotic description, the latter concern to ordinary people in social life. The ethics thought from early tolate love self-love sublimation.This paper mainly uses the method of ethical literary criticism of Zweig’s short stories. Ethical literarycriticism is a new method of literature in recent years the domestic scholar Nie Zhenzhao criticism, namelythe relationship from the ethics angle of historical, dialectical research literature and literature and author,literature and readers, literature and society etc.This paper consists of introduction, body and conclusion of three parts.The introduction mainlycarding the research situation of this subject at home and abroad, with the method of interpretation ofliterary ethical criticism of Zweig’s novels and practical significance, domestic study of Zweig’s novels toopen up a new perspective.The first chapter from Zweig on the independence of personality and freedom of thought, the pursuitof ideal love and family ethics conflict, and Zweig in the war of moral choice three aspects to explore themoral life, and view impact on novel creation interpretation of Zweig’s contradictory moral life.The second chapter mainly through the NIGHT, WEDDING, WUSHAN CLOUD novels such as theanalysic, divided into three kinds of love ethics in the novel, namely the conflict of sexual and socialmorality, the contradictions between ideal love and social ethics, adhere to the belief of human naturebeauty of love. Interpretation of Zweig’s pursuit of goodness, love ethics beauty, trying to break thetraditional ethic of love.The third chapter discusses the family ethics in the novel, the SECRET, HOT, FEAR, TROPICALDEMENTED PATIENTS IN A WOM’S LIFE TWENTY-FOUR HOURS, EMOTIONAL CONFUSION textas the object of study. Mainly from the two aspects of marital ethics and family ethics to discuss the ethicalrelationship and ethical conflicts in the novel, contradictory interpretation of marital ethics, betrayed the marriage party through moral thinking and redemption, ultimately to return. Revealed the cause of theparent-child relationship social indifference.The fourth chapter to the OLD BOOKSELLER MENDEL, INVISIBLE COLLECTION, GENEVALAKE SHACKLE, EPISODE, CHESS STORY, as the research object,,war ethics reflected in the novel thatinterpretation, condemnation of war crimes, advocacy of humanitarian war, revealing the war the good andevil of relativity.The conclusion part summarizes the limitations of the ideological content, reveals Zweig’s ethicalthoughts, and Zweig’s ethical thoughts advanced for guidance of modern social ethics value exploration.
