Abstract/Summary:
When a sentence is spoken it is sure to carry the nature of the time."Tense" is based a point of the timeline to express the regular inflection of the temporal relation with verbal inflection (that is, the present, past, future, and so on). English, Japanese and other languages express "tense" and "aspect" through conjugation in the language. while Chinese is followed by the verb"了”,“着”or“过”to express the concept of time and plays the same grammatical role with "tense" and "aspect" in Japanese. In Chinese, it is followed by the verb“了”or“过”to express the past tense,“着”to the present and verb stem to simple present tense and the future. According to this argument, the text investigated, analysed and did comparative study on the tense expression of Japanese and Chinese. Through this it is understood that normally, Chinese "了" or“过”is corresponded to the Japanese "タ" and "テイタ". while着”is to Japanese "テイル", the verb stem is in Japanese,"ル".The first chapter mainly introduces the leading research of verb tenses expression and problems. in Japanese and Chinese, and where the problem lies. At the same time it clarifies the aims and research methods of the thesis. The second chapter describes the concept of tense and specifies the verb tenses and also similarities and differences between it in Chinese and Japanese.
