| Psychological Type theory was created nearly a century ago by Jung who is thefounder of Analytical Psychology, and an outstanding theory from Jung. Especially inrecent decades, Jung’s Psychological Type theory reflects a large number of value inaspects of theory and application. In the personality theory, Jung not only divides thepart of people into intuition type, but also put intuition as a cognitive function. In fact, this idea was integrating personality with cognition. Because Jung’s explication aboutPsychological Type theory is mystic and elusive, it is not easy to draw any concreteand practical conclusion about the question that what cognitive characteristics variouspersonality type have. Based on this question, present study was conducted toinvestigate cognitive characteristics of different psychological types. In the currentstudy, cognitive characteristics refer to implicit and explicit memory and reactiontime. The Chinese version of MBTI Form G is applied to divide77subjects intodifferent personality types. MBTI has four dimensions, which are Introversion typeand Extraversion type, Sensation type and iNtuition type, Feeling type and Thinkingtype, Judging type and Perceiving type. Subjects were divided into a type of eachdimension. The study has two experiments. The first experiment is constituted by four oftwo factor mixed experimental design. In each design, between-subject variable is onepair of Psychological Types, and within-subject variable is memory mode, whichinclude implicit memory and explicit memory. ANOVA was employed to testinteraction effect, main effect and simple effect. The second experiment employed independent sample t test to analyze data ofvisual simple reaction time, visual identification reaction time, visual choice reactiontime and acoustic simple reaction time of different psychological types. Results indicated that iNtuitive type was more accurate than Sensation type intheir implicit memory, and Judging type’s acoustic simple reaction time was longerthan Perceiving type’s. |
