The Shanghai movie in this article particularly refets to the movies about Shanghai image which made in the Shanghai and directed by Shanghai’s directors in1930s.The HongKong movie refers to the Shanghai image movies which directed by HongKong’s directors and full of nostalgic atmosphere in1980s.The former is about the description of present Shanghai,and the latter is about an air of Thirties nostalgia.The waves of Shanghai nostalgia between film theorists and literary theorists echo each other at a distance and become to be a noteworthy phenomenon.However, the movies about Shanghai’s image between Shanghai and HongKong is also a striking contrast.This paper tries to use the method of comparison researeh from the perspeetive of1930s Shanghai movies and1980s HongKong movies and show its differences of the times.Its also display some kinds of standpoint and the value orientation of the movie artists.There are three parts in the paper.The first chapter of this topic explores the causes of the nostalgia wave about the city of Shanghai and the history of business and movies.The second chapter is the most important one which discusses how to transfer city imagery to visualization and the common of Shanghai image showed in movies.At the same time, tease out the differences among narrative strategies、characters and urban labeles. The third chapter disscusses the relationship of city and movie,cities and cities.At last,giving the judgment of Shanghai’s image value in art and business and make an objective evaluation of Shanghai image.
