This thesis tries to descibe the general features of the financial institutions during the1920s and the1930s, with the finacial institutions being the subject of the thesis. To be specific, the thesis constructs a organic-sociological analysing structure, with organic pattern and organic ration being its core. The former is used to demonstrate the overall schema of the financial institutions, while the latter reflects the basic contents of the institution group change. The general pattern of the finance market during this period of time is classified into traditional institutions and modern ones, the main representatives of which are banks and the old-style Chinese private banks respectively. Both of them are in the majority in their organic group. And the new banks are beginning to take the place of old-style private banks and are becoming the key organization in the finance market. Furthermore, the new banks are controlling or influencing other organizations through capital, business and personnel,In regard to organic ration, there is some degree of convergence between different kinds of financial institutions in the process of modernization. Modern financial institutions enjoy a higher degree of modernization compared with the traditional ones. Inside each organization, dominant banks have a higher degree of modernization. Basically, the formal homoplasy of these financial institutions occurs because they have to adjust themselves to the objective technology and system environment. Besides, this homoplasy originates from efficiency mechanism and is under the influence of legitimacy. The difference in their rationalization explains to a certain extent the organic pattern of the financial market. In other words, the organic pattern means the relative position of the financial institutions in the market. Nevertheless, there is no obvious correlation between the financial institutions and their business performance. In conclusion, research into the organic characteristics of the financial institutions and their development during this period of time has some realistic significance for the development of present finance industry as well as the governmental financial regulations.
