| Despite the use of computers, writing remains an important means torecord and communicate ideas. In our daily life, handwriting is still a necessary lifeskill. Failure to attain and master handwriting skills throughout educational careersoften has far-reaching negative effects on both academic success and self-esteem.Apart from intrinsic and extrinsic factors, pencil grasp is frequently connected withhandwriting performance. However, empirical studies have shown that no significantmain effect was found between the types of pencil grasp the students used and thestudents’ handwriting performance in the aspect of writing English. This study seeksto examine the relationship between pencil grasp and handwriting quality in theprocess of writing Chinese by Chinese primary students so that we are better able toprovide effective instructions for both educators and students concerned. |
