Xiao Daheng With Ralationship Of Ming-Mongolia

Through the Ming Dynasty, the relationship with Mongolia was the vital part of nation affairs. In some extent, the development of Ming and Mongolia’s relationship depended on the efficient operation of many officials who are in charge for frontier administration. These officials who were proven ability executed positively the policy of the Mongolia and maintain the relationship between the neighbours. Xiao Daheng was one of the capable officials.Because Xiao Daheng’s data were burned in the Qing Dynasty, the existing data less and scattered, lacking of studying on Xiao Daheng. this paper use neglectful Mongolian historical records, such as epitaph, home letter, letter within friends, on the base of former researches, further analyze the effect of Xiao Daheng in the relationship of Ming-Mongolia. reflecting the relationship between Ming and Mongolia by analyzing Xiao Daheng. This paper will do the research from the following aspects. First, we try to introduce the whole life of Xiao especially reveal his official career. Second, we will analyze the historic background of Xiao Daheng as a frontier official, in another words, the relationship of Ming-Mongolia from Longqing term to Wanli. Third, by studying the political achievements elaborate the Xiao Daheng’s vital role in the relationship of Ming-Mongolia,such as push forward the exchanging-market, dealing with the sudden affairs. Forth, by discussing the Xiao’s works, the custom of Mongolia and the ancestry of Mongolia, we try to recover the social structure and civil life of Mongolia in the16th-17th century. Finally, we will give a objective evaluation to Xiao Daheng.
