With the rapid development of Chinese economy and the arrival of global Chinese storm, more and more foreign students come to China to learn Chinese.Tt is not an easy thing after all for the foreign students who come to China, learning Chinese, especially mastering the basic usage of Chinese modal verbs proficiently. For the sake of making foreign students learn modal verb sooner and better, for the sake of decreasing and preventing errors,as the research object, This paper summarize the types of errors of modal verbs in the database of Chinese oral, which is established by the authors,based on the two program of "Chinese bridge" and "the different absolutely world".By applying Douglas Biber language frequency theory, interlanguage theory, the second language acquisition theory, language migration theory, errors analysis theory, language contrast analysis theory and so on, by using the analysis software of WordParser5.8,Wordfrequency parse v1.0,EXCEL,SPSS and so on, On the basis of investigation,this paper analyses the causes of forming the errors systematically from the viewpoint of the purpose and motivation of foreign students,language transfer, word characteristics of modal verbs,teaching strategy and so on,comparing to the database of HSK.At last,from the two aspects of teaching and learning,this paper gives several corresponding suggestions on teaching in the classroom, learning after class,compiling textbooks.This paper is divided into eight chapters:Chapter one:This paper introduces mainly the research background,motives, significance,theory, methods and innovations in this paper. At the same time,looking back to achievements that former researchers have got.Chapter two:This paper introduces the two programs of "Chinese bridge" and "the different absolutely world",and the database of HSK.Chapter three:This paper introduces the basic characteristics,classification standard,grammatical functions and structure of modal verbs.Chapter four:This paper gives the basic statistics and contrast analysis on the errors of modal verbs between the two databases of Chinese oral and HSK.Chapter five:This paper gives the definition and standard of modal verbs,and gives the basic category statistics and analysis on the errors of modal verbs.Chapter six:Investigation and analysis on the cause of the errors of modal verbs.Chapter seven:Suggestions on TCFL,which including revising outline, adapting materials; Strengthening the construction of the teaching staff, improving teaching Chinese as a foreign language and research level; Innovating teaching method, strengthening the teaching effect, etc.Chapter eight:This paper summarizes the full text, and prospects the next step research.
