This paper is a practical report on the whole process of the translation practice, and it makes a detailed case analysis of the translation techniques adopted. In the end, the author makes a summary of the translation practice. The report consists of five parts. Part two introduces definitions of picture books and those discussions of Jimmy. Part four makes a comprehensive analysis of the discourse features of Jimmy’s works. Then the author takes metro as a case study and discusses cultural phenomenon and translation techniques in the process of translation. Part five is a summary of the gains and defects during the translation practice and puts forward her expectations of translation of Jimmy’s works.Through translation practice of Metro, the report aims to reproduce the exclusive expression techniques and tones in the source text, and to make the translated version also suitable for both young and old in the target language. Furthermore, the author hopes that the general analysis of discourse features and the adoption of specific translation techniques in this report can later on contribute to the research and practice of other translators.
