Along with the growth of experience is a deep understanding and description of humanity in the literature. This paper extracts four themes:human nature, redemption, reconciliation, love, which run throughout her writing career.Yan Geling displays human nature on wider environments, especially on difficult circumstances. There are several points in her works worthy to notice:the emphasis on individual independence; focus on the instinctive desire of people; changes and stabilities on hard environments. On the theme of redemption, she stresses the individual trauma submerged in the collective discourse, and proposes two options of curing the psychological trauma and the trauma amnesia:one is writing down the history of trauma; the other is to absorb the power of the folk to adapt the imbalanced personality structure. Yan Geling pays more attention to women beings throughout her literature career. She explores the presence of women in the world of love. However, her concept of classical ideal love has experienced a process of yearningã€criticizing-rejecting-rebirthing. As for reconciliation, Yan Geling agrees that regardless of differences in cultures, people share same feelings such as love in common, which provide a platform and possibility of communication. This paper divides four chapters to explore the implications of the four themes. Yan Geling sets up a context of extremeness, describing the changes of humanity in them, showing the detests and disconsolations of humanity. However, it is not to say that she recommends that humanity is so evil that there is no hope to save, she expresses human glory of mining female characteristics. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | humanity, trauma, reconciliation, love, woman | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
