| Illustrations for children’s reading materials play an indispensable part in developingthe visual and cultural abilities for children who gradually improve and better their mentaldevelopment and art appreciation while growing up. Thus problems arise that childrenhave various requirements for illustrations at different developmental stages, and thisresearch, targeted mainly on the above-mentioned problems, focused on how to design andcreate illustrations for children’s reading materials to meet various requirements. Thewidely accepted graded reading system, based on the previous comprehensive study andanalysis of children’s behavior and thinking patterns during their development, serves asthe significant guideline in this research to define the children’s developmental stages andsource of recommended graded reading materials. Therefore, in combination of the artappreciation features for children at different stages, this research adopted case analysisand literature reviewing as the study method and analyzed the illustration designing andcreating for children’s reading materials in the following four aspects of children’sbehavior, thinking patterns, art appreciation features and graded reading materials. |
