Writing is a comprehensive lesson that involves the application of many aspects ofknowledge, such as the vocabulary, grammar, sentence, semantics, and pragmatics. It’sdifferent from listening, reading and speaking. Writing, as an integral part of languageteaching is not an easy task to accomplish. Through writing, you can understand thecomprehensive ability of students to use Chinese. However, teachers’ written feedbackis very important for composition in TCSOL. The purpose of this study is to find theteachers’ actual written feedback for composition in TCSOL. Hopping this study canfind out the problems and explore an effective way of writing feedback in TCSOL.The research process adopts quantitative and qualitative method. And thequantitative method is based on the questionnaire. The participants are from ten ofuniversities’ students and their writing class teachers in China. All the students are stillon the Intermediate Chinese levels. And most of the surveyed universities are inChongqing Province. Such as Chongqing University, Chongqing Normal University,Sichuan International Studies University, Chongqing University of Posts andTelecommunications, Industrial and Commercial University of Chongqing, SichuanNormal University, etc. Meanwhile, the qualitative method based on the way ofinterviewing in order to supplement to quantitative research, and then makes thequantitative research become more comprehensive.Through statistical analysis and comparison of the results of the survey andcombined with interviews, the conclusions are educed:(1) Both of the teachers andstudents think the written feedback for writing is necessary.(2) The attitudes of teachersand students are different on the current written feedback.(3) Teachers’ practical waysof writing evaluation and error correction match the needs of students, but to the way oferror correction for syntax、vocabulary and punctuation, the teachers’ and students’views are different.(4) Teachers agree with the students’ views on the key content ofwritten feedback correction and they both focus on the language expressions.Based on the results and discussion of this thesis, the thesis analyzed the reasonsfor the cause of differences between teachers and students for the written feedback inTCSOL. Meanwhile, it proposed solutions and recommendations for the teachers andthe students of TCSOL. Both the teachers and students of TCSOL should pay attentionto the teachers’ written feedback on composition. Teachers should according to the syllabuses and the students’ acquirements with their actual situations to analysis thequestions. And modify their ways of teaching to suit the special requirements of eachclass or case. In order to improve written feedback’s efficiency and then use moreeffective methods of written feedback.
