The Macao government carried out the franchise system of important commoditiesin the precess of the management of Macao after the opium war. This paper mainly based on therecords of public announcement and contract articles about franchise of salt whichpublished on Boletim Official, and the atlas of franchise of salt collected inHistorical archives of Macao, Exhibits the Evolvement contrail of the franchise ofsalt, baseing on that, it inquire into the operation rules change in the four distinctstages-the start, preliminary, steady development, cancellation and reconstructionof franchise of salt, and the characteristics of each stage is discussed in detail.Building up the history development process of the franchise of salt in Macao inthe late Qing dynasty.
