A Case Study On Classroom Interaction

In classroom instruction, teacher and students interact with each other through instruction content. They understand instruction content together, discover its significance and enrich their own experience, In essence, the process of classroom instruction is a process of interaction. It is the process of actively interacting within teacher, students and instruction content. Paying attention to the study of "classroom interaction" means the pursuit of classroom instruction changing from "technical rationality" to "emancipatory rationality". Teacher, students and the differences between students begin to be respected.The basic elements of classroom interaction are teacher, students and instruction content. The different combinations among these elements will produce different classroom interaction patterns. From the dimension of instruction content, classroom interaction patterns of teacher D and the students in two classes under her instruction mainly demonstrate classroom instruction interaction and classroom management interaction. Among them, classroom instruction interaction is a main pattern of classroom interaction. Classroom management interaction intersperses in instruction interaction, guaranteeing and promoting its smooth progress. From the dimension of subject, on one hand, classroom instruction interaction of teacher D and students mostly shows as teacher subject patterns of "teacher tells-students listen" and "teacher asks-students answer". It seldom appears as student subject patterns of "students ask-teacher answers" and "students ask-students answer". On the other hand, classroom management interaction of teacher D and students almost shows as teacher subject patterns. From functions of management interaction, management interaction mainly shows as three forms of regulation, punishment and encouragement.The classroom interaction between teacher D and students mainly reflects spontaneity, low technical content and teacher subject. Therefore, directions of further efforts are to pursue interaction of self-conscious, skilled and inter-subject between teacher and students.
