Objectives:To retrospective study the clinical effect of teenagers with congenitalscoliosis treated by posterior hemivertebra resection.Method:From June2007to June2011,24Teenagers at the age of12-20with congenitalscoliosis cured by posterior hemivertebra resection were reviewed. The average agewas15years old.All the patients underwent posterior hemivertebra resection. Results:The average operation time was2.5hours(range2-4hours),and the averageblood loss was650ml(range400-1400m1).An average age of follow-up period was19months(range12-30months).Scoliosis was corrected form40.96°to15.21°with acorrection rate of62.86%.Kyphosis was corrected form27.04°to11.67°with orthopaedicrate of56.84%.Mean Cobb angle of the segmental main Curve was36.3°before surgery,14.4°after surgery, and15.3°at the last follow-up.There were only one pedicle cuttingwithout any sign of implant failure, pseudo arthrosis and correction loss. Conclusions:Posterior hemivertebra resection can get rid of the cause directly, has aeffective capability of correcting kyphoscoliosis on the frontal and sagittal planes. |
