| Introduction:Parkinson’s disease(PD) is a progressive degenerative disease of central nervous system, which is common in elderly. The quality of patients was severely decreased with the progression of motor or non-motor symptoms. It also brings a great burden to family and society. As China’s population is aging, the incidence of PD increases in recent years. Therefore, development of new drugs for PD to delay the progression is urgently needed. At present, the main treatments of PD can improve the symptom, but can’t prevent the progression. Studies found that using neural protectants in early stage can slow down the progression of PD and improve its prognosis. The pathogenesis of PD may be related to genetic factors, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, abnormal immune function, environmental factors and so on. Coenzyme Q10, as an antioxidants, can eliminate free radicals. Recent studies found that coenzyme Q10also has an important role in neuron protection and nutrition, clinical trials confirmed that the large dose of coenzyme Q10(300mg/d) has positive effect on PD. But in china, each tablet of coenzyme Q10is10mg, taking so large dose of coenzyme Q10every day brings a great burden to patients. Our study wants to observe the effect of normal coenzyme Q10(60mg/d) on PD.Objective:To evaluate the effect of coenzyme Q10(60mg/d) on the motor symptoms and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Methods:We adopted a random, controlled trail.40patients of Parkinson’s disease were divided into coenzyme Q10treatment group (20cases) and control group (20cases). In addition to the conventional drugs(Levodopa and Benserazide Tablet), coenzyme Q1060mg/d was added to the treatment group, the control group just maintained routine drug(Levodopa and Benserazide Tablet) treatment, continuous for 6months. The parameters of our study included scores of UPDRS, ADL, MMSE, MoCA, HAD and PSQI before treatment,3months and6months after treatment in both groups. All the data is analyzed by Graph Prism5.0.Results:After3months, there was no significant difference between CoQ10treatment group and control group in Total UPDRS, UPDRS-I, UPDRS-II,UPDRS-III, UPDRS-Ⅳ,H-Y stages, ADL,HAD A,HAD D, MoCA, MMSE scores (P>0.05). The score of PSQI of CoQ10treatment group improved significantly comparing with control group (P<0.05).After6months, there was no significant difference between CoQ10treatment group and control group in Total UPDRS,UPDRS-I,UPDRS-II, UPDRS-III, UPDRS-Ⅳ, H-Y stages, HAD D,ADL and MMSE scores (P>0.05). CoQ10treatment group improved significantly comparing with control group in MoCA, HAD A and PSQI scores (P<0.05).Conclusions:Normal dose of coenzyme Q10(60mg/d) for3months has some effect on sleep disorders of Parkinson’s disease. After6months, coenzyme Q10can improve the cognition, anxiety and sleep disorders of Parkinson’s disease. |
