Objective Laryngeal amyloidosis originates from specific amyloid deposition in mucosal or vascular wall of the throat, with a local metabolic dysfunction. Because of its low morbility and non-specific clinical features, it was very important to differentiate from other diseases. The purpose of this paper was to summarise the manifestations diagnosisi and management of the disease so as to be helpful to clinics. Methods We used retrospective analysis the clinical data of our hospital ENT department from June2002to December2013, among which9patients were laryngeal amyloidosis confirmed by pathological biopsy, and we analyzed the patients’general condition, clinical features, clinical diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.Results In the9laryngeal amyloidosis patients, gender ratio was male:female2:1; The age distribution is33-68years, which median was51.1years old. The shortest duration was1month, while the longest was13years, and the median was2years. Lesions involving the supraglottic region has three cases, there are four cases involving the glottic area, while involving the larynx and nasopharynx was one case, except only one case involving the ventricular band, arytenoid, and the base of the tongue. One case was taken the fibro laryngoscope vocal surgery under the surface anesthesia, and two cases was taken the self-retaining laryngoscope vocal surgery under the general anesthesia.5cases were taken the laryngofissure neoplasms ectomy under the general anesthesia. One patient given up the surgery after biopsy. Five patients at discharge were without hoarseness, and the remaining four cases were still slightly hoarse. Conclusion Laryngeal amyloidosis is a low-morbility local disease with a relative high ratio in males. Its main clinical manifestation was hoarseness with its pathology involving many pathogenic factors. Pathological diagnosis of the disease is the "gold standard". Surgical resection is the preferred treatment for this localized disease. The disease usually has favourable prognosis,as long as fully understood, clinicians can do early detection and early treatment.
