Objective①To learn the distributions of waistline and age characteristics amongMongolian students aged7~18;②To establish a Bivariate correlation A nalysis of w aistline, overweight andobesity among urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys, provide theoreticalbasis for study of overweight and obesity in Mongolian students aged7~18;③To provide scientific basisofeffective tacticsofintervention and m easuresonclinical diagnosis and school health. Methods:According to the Mongolian TongLiao schools’ data from the "national studentphysical health survey" in2010, we got a total number of6088people effectively.First we compared the waistline and BMI among urban girls, urban boys, ruralgirls and rural boys.Through a Bivariate correlation Analysis among age, waistlineand BMI,we calculated the correlation coefficient r and did a t test.To establish the correlation of waistline, overweight and obesity among urbangirls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys in Mongolian students aged7~18, weanalysed whether the waist level among normal, overweight and obesity groups havea significant difference.Results:1.Waistline levels of urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys are allincreased with the growth of the age among Mongolian students aged7~18in2010,waistline increases of urban girls and urban boys are higher than those of rural girls and rural boys.2.BMI levels of urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys are allincreased with the growth of age, and difference between urban and rural areas issignificant, gender difference is significant either.3.There is a high correlation between waistline and BMI among urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys.4.According to BMI percentile of85%and95%boundary value, we divided theresearch object into normal, overweight and obesity group, the average rate ofoverweight and obesity is10.6%and6.4%,the rate of overweight and obesity ofurban boys is11.9%,11.0%;of urban girls is9.9%,7.9%;of rural boys is9.5%,2.9%;and of rural girls is11.0%,3.7%。5.Demonstrate that there is a correlation between overweight, obesity andwaistline among urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys of Mongolianstudents.6.The results of our study provide scientific basis to establish applicativereference value of waistline index among Mongolian students aged7~18.Disscussion1. People usually measure growth level of children and adolescents in height andweight, but ignored waistline index, waistline index has obvious advantages than BMIon Operational and targeted, therefore, it is necessary to establish normal referencevalue of children and adolescents waistline index. As literature study of Mongolianstudents waistline reference value is less in our country, we need this result of studyfor reference to analyze physical growth of Mongolian students.2. Waistline of Mongolian students aged7~18are all increased with the growthof the age(P<0.01),these findings are in agreement with the studies demonstratingthe growth tendency of body shape among minority student in1985-2005. It isreported that difference of height and weight between urban and rural areas is notsignificant, but in our study, waistline increases of urban boys and girls arehighest. Thus it can be seen that there has diffenrence between height, weight andwaistline of Mongolian students, it is necessary to establish applicative reference value of waistline index.3. There is a high correlation between waistline and BMI among urban girls, urban boys, rural girls and rural boys, which provides scientific basis of waistlineinstead of BMI as a Screening guideline of Mongolian students aged7~18.4. A measurement demonstrated that children has reached the level, Continuousmonitoring can analyze the growth tendency of body shape. For this purpose, and toimprove growth level and physical health work of the Mongolian students, we willestablish different ages reference value of waistline index in Mongolian students aged7~18.
