Analysis Of The Clinical Curative Effect Of Acupuncture Treatment On Glaucomatous Optic Neuropathy

ObjectiveTo analyze the clinical curative effect of acupuncture treatment on glaucomatous optic neuropathy.MethodsFrom July1st,2013to December31st,2013,96eyes of50glaucomatous optic neuropathy sufferers who visited the outpatient department of ophthalmology of Dongfang hospital were randomly assigned to the test group and the control group.Both the control group and the test group accepted the basic treatment of glaucoma. Simultaneously the test group received acupunctrual treatments. The acupoints were Jingming, Chengqi, Shangming, Taiyang, Fengchi and Hegu. Jingming, Chengqi and Shangming were only needed to retain the needle for30minutes without lifting thrusting and rotating. The other acupoints were pricked with mild reinforcing-reducing method.The treatment cycle was two weeks, once a day from Monday to Friday.The test indexes were visual acuity, intraocular pressure, visual field including mean sensitivity (MS) and mean defect(MD), visual evoked potential(VEP) including the latent time of peak P100and amplitude of P100-N135(spatial frequency of8×8and16×16). All the test indexes were examined and compared pre and post the treatment. Besides, in the test group instant intraocular pressure and VEP were examined shortly after pulling the needles out in the fist treatment, then intraocular pressure were examined after30minutes.Analyze the clinical curative effect of acupuncture treatment on glaucomatous optic neuropathy by observing the change of the indexes.Results1. Visual acurity was not improved after two weeks in both test group and control group.2. Acupunture treatment can make intraocular pressure lower.Lowing intraocular pressure effect had played its role since pulling the needles out. And the effect was showing a rising trend in30minutes after pulling the needles out.3. Visual field was improved in test group with MS rising and MD dropping after acupuncture treatment for two weeks. 4. The latent time of peak P100and amplitude of P100-N135did not change after acupuncture treatment for two weeks in both test group and control group. Instant latent time of peak Pjoo was prolonged shortly after pulling the needles out (It had statistical significance in spatial frequency of8×8), and instant amplitude of P100-N135did not change.5. The total effective rate of test group was61.9%, and the total effective rate of control group was15.91%.The curative effect of treatment group was better than control group.6. The clinical curative effect of acupuncture treatment was related to age and course of disease. The older the age was, the longer the course of disease was, the poorer the effect was.ConclusionAcupunture treatment can make intraocular pressure lower.Visual field was improved by acpuncture treatment. Moreover, it has lower cost, convenient operation, good therapeutic effects, wide clinical prospect. Therefore, acupunture can be generalized as conventional treatment in glaucomatous optic neuropathy.
