Objectiver:To develop a set of health self-management ability rating scale for prehypertension in our country, analysis the items and test it’s reliability and validity in order to provide a effective and scientific tool for studying and specially improving the ability of health self-management for prehypertension. Methods:Based on the theory of Bandura’s social cognitive theory,we draw up the original rating scale, which has3first-level indicators,8second-level indicators and56third-level indicators after consulting a large number of domestic and foreign literature. After two rounds of Delphi expert enquiry, the research group complied with a beta scale, which has3first-level indicators,8second-level indicators and37third-level indicators on the basis of taking full account of the opinions of the experts. Then we used the beta scale to investigate201samples and we selected the items using discrete level of method, differentiation analysis, the relevant coefficient, frequency analysis and exploratory factor analysis. At the same time, we test the reliability and validity. Eventually the final version scale was formed.Results:1. Health Self-Management Ability Rating Scale For Prehypertension is formed, which is composed of3subscales,6factors,27items.The name of3subscales are health self-management behavior, health self-management cognitive and health self-management environment respectively. And health self-management behavior subscales includes3factors and14items; health self-management cognitive subscales includes2factors and8items; health self-management environment subscales includes1factors and5items.2.Reliability:The Cronbach’s a coefficients of Health self-management behavior subscale,Health self-management cognitive subscale and health self-management environment subscale are0.856,0.862and0.792respectively.The split-half coefficients of the total scale is0.728.3.Validity:①Factor analysis:6common factors were extracted in the factor analysis used principal component analysis of Varimax rotation, and the cumulative contribution rate was71.04%.②Correlation analysis:The correlation coefficient between items and fators were0.696-0.965,and total scale were0.427~0.640; and the correlation coefficient among each fators were0.133~0.590,with total scale were0.599~0.741;the correlation coefficient among subscales were0.355~0.594,with total scale were0.715~0.915。There were statistically significant (P>0.05),besides the correlation coefficient between diet self-management fator and motion self-management fator. Conclusion:The Prehypertensive population Health Self-Management Ability Rating Scale(PHHSMARS) which had good reliability and validity and obtained good psychometric properties was formed and we can use it to evaluate the ability of health self-management for the prehypertensive population in our country.
