ObjectiveTo study the age at natural menopause of women in Jilin Province, the data camefrom the Jilin Province Chronic Disease Survey in2012, describing the status of theage at natural menopause, analyzing its influencing factors.MethodsThrough multistage stratified cluster random sampling method,23050peopleaged from18to79years were drew from nine states(a total of32areas) of Jilinprovince. The data of these residents were collected with the questionnaire andphysical examinations by face-to-face interview. The female sample was11098.Finally,4875postmenopausal women of them were selected. Complex weightedcomputation was used to estimate the age at natural menopause. One-way ANOVAwas used to compare the age at natural menopause of the women with different birthyears. Multiple linear regression analysis were used to examine the influencing factorsof age at natural menopause.Results1. Postmenopausal women were4875cases, including41women age at naturalmenopause missing. Age at natural menopause <40years,40≤age at naturalmenopause≤45years,46≤age at natural menopause≤53years and age at naturalmenopause≥54years respectively accounted for2.19%(106cases),13.30%(643cases),72.67%(3513cases) and11.84%(572cases). By complex weightedcomputation, the rate of premature ovarian failure, early menopause and latemenopause was respectively0.77%,4.61%and3.72%. The rate of premature ovarianfailure, early menopause and late menopause was no statistically significant betweenrural area and urban area.2. The mean and median of the age at natural menopause was49.13and50.00,respectively.3. The natural menopause age was50.38±3.87years old born from1953to1955group,49.55±4.38years old born from1943to1952group,48.76±4.34years old born from1933to1942group, respectively. The age at natural menopause in Jilinprovince is statistically significant among the women with different groups (F=22.553,P<0.001). There is a statistically significant in the any two groups of birth years bymultiple comparison. The age at natural menopause of urban and rural is49.41±4.04yand49.09±4.13y, there is a statistically significant (F=7.553,P=0.006) both urban andrural.4. The age at natural menopause is statistically significant among the women ofdifferent education levels and occupations (F=2.765, P=0.040; F=16.330, P<0.001).There is no statistically significant in the age at natural menopause among the womenof different marital status, family income and ethnic. With the increase of educationlevels, the age at natural menopause is increasing. Intelligent female’s age at naturalmenopause (49.56±3.79y) is higher than manual female’s age at naturallymenopausal (48.86±4.11y), there is a statistically significant (F=16.330, P<0.001).5. The age at natural menopause of never-smoking female, quit-smoking femaleand smoking female were49.36±4.08y,49.40±4.40y and48.64±4.02y. The ageat natural menopause is statistically significant by ANOVA among the never smokingfemale, quit smoking female and smoking female (F=10.609, P<0.001). By Post HocMultiple Comparisons, the age at natural menopause is statistically significant amongsmoking female and other groups’ female. The age at natural menopause of differentamount of smoking (1~10/day,11~20/day and21~60/day) is statistically significant(χ2=7.210, P=0.027). The age at natural menopause is no statistically significantbetween drinking and not drinking female.6. The age at natural menopause among the group of underweight, normal,overweight and obesity is48.60±4.10y,48.96±4.09y,49.38±4.06y and49.72±4.11y,there is statistically significant (F=9.064, P<0.001). The age at natural menopause ofdifferent mental health status is statistically significant (F=5.319, P=0.005). By PostHoc Multiple Comparisons, there is statistically significant in any two groups. 7. The age at natural menopause among the group of low-risk, middle-risk,high-risk is49.50±3.94y,49.29±4.13y,48.97±4.12y, there is statistically significant(F=5.319, P=0.005).8. The habits and types of dietary have no statistically significant on the age atnatural menopause.9. The multiple linear regression results indicated that BMI, different birth yearsand education was positively correlated with the age at natural menopause, butsmoking was negatively.Conclusion1. The rate of premature ovarian failure, early menopause and late menopausewas respectively0.77%,4.61%and3.72%.The rate of premature ovarian failure, earlymenopause and late menopause was no statistically significant between rural area andurban area.2. The mean and median of the age at natural menopause was respectively49.13years old and50.00years old.3. Different birth years, BMI, smoking and education were the influencingfactors of the age at natural menopause in Jilin province. Different birth years, BMIand education were both positively associated with the age at natural menopause.Theage at natural menopause was increasing with the increasing of the birth years, BMIand education. Smoking was negatively associated with age at natural menopause.Compared with female who had never smoked, the age at natural menopause ofsmoking female was in advance.
