Refractive index is a fundamental physical quantities used to characterization light transparent material optical properties. Among various kinds of light transparent material. Refractive index can change corresponding with many factors’ change such as density, stress, concentration and temperature. In the production practice. Through the determination of the refractive index’s spatial distribution by means of specific media. and the determination of refractive index change over time. we can implementation of other relevant quantities for qualitative analysis and quantitative determination.The text studies the refractive index measurement technology based on CCD imaging technology. The method uses CCD imaging and image self aligning technology in place of the visual collimation by human eye. Using photoelectricity shaft encoder instead of optical mechanical dial, realizing the digital measurement of deflection angle accurately. Using motor control the imaging system in order to carry single line under double line’s arm for image registration, and buzzer alarm automatically. The experimental results show that the accuracy of measurement is±3×10-6. and enhance one order of magnitude than the other tradition measuring equipment’s measuring accuracy for refractive index at the present stage in our country.
