Now there is a kind of oral disease effecting one’s health and sleeping, with thename of the intermittent apnea syndrome. Treatment to the disease is often latebecause of its unsure judgment about its pathology. Presently the way to treat is usingprobe to observe the oral. Although it is convenient it is not accurate to look in eyes.So this paper proposes the method of image processing to oral photographs fordiagnosis, and capture image by the image acquisition, then make use of computersystem of the instrument software to finish the disease treatment.Firstly this paper introduces the significance of image processing technology andthe development at home and abroad, and through the introduction and comparisonof several common image processing algorithms, Top-hat algorithm is proposed as amethod of image processing. And then start to introduce Top-hat algorithm and theapplication of the principle, and select or set main factors on Top-hat algorithm.Including choose the type of Top-hat algorithm, select the size of structure elemention and set the gray range. At the same time it is to process a lot of the grayscaleimage, contrast enhancement of gray image and highlight the mouth parts, laying thefoundation for the calculation of the rear area. Then is to image conversion to oralgray image processed, edge detection, image sharpening, two value elements andimage hole filling, then calculate the oral area. Finally the application of otheralgorithms for oral image processing, with the results to compared to the results ofTop-hat algorithm, showing its advantage in oral medical image processing.Through the top-hat operators with different structure elements, to deal withdifferent image, result is that the oval structure element is the optimal structureelement. Using the top-hat operator and multi-scale structure elements, to deal withthe large amount of image, finally obtained when the area and structure element ratiois100it is the best size. Through a large amount of image processing, when the gray value range of control in [50~200], image contrast is best. Adding the original grayimage in the top-hat algorithm in the original image, putting the information to avoidmissing the useful information, the missing rate is reduced, the general can bereduced to10%~30%. Missing rate is low, the noise is less, the relative amount ofmore useful information. The repeated application of Top-hat algorithm, the grayimage and background of contrast is more and more big, the best repeat number is10times, the edge of image contrast enhancement, image edge extraction more accurate.Through the comparison between Top-hat algorithm and other algorithms showingthat it is more satisfied to process oral image, the edge of image processing is clearerand the number is more right.
