Starting:with the objective from the operation effect, complications, recurrence of these three aspects of microvascular decompression in treatment of hemifacial spasm and the therapeutic effect, factors and clear whether age is influencing the efficacy of operation.method:2123HFS patients were followed up by telephone during2009.1-2010.12in Beijing in306,309, Jiangxi People’s Hospital professor Liu Ruen MVD operation. Among them, the successful follow-up of1919cases,204cases due to change of contact and visit. In this study, follow-up time interval between2-3years. The main question response degree, three complications, recurrence, analysis of1919HFS patients clinical data and follow-up results were reviewed and. In addition, to60years of age limit,1919HFS patients were divided into elderly group and the young group, compared complications and operation treatment.Results:(1) the efficacy of MVD in two groups:the remission rate, relapse rate, inefficiency results as follows, in the young group-97%,2%,1%,3%,2%,-95%of the aged group, In the young and elderly groups in effective, recurrence, invalid in three aspects, there were no statistically significant differences.(2) various complications as follows:hearing disorder-1%, facial paralysis, ataxia,--3%--14%head or edge of discomfort, leakage of cerebrospinal fluid--11%--1%, visual impairment,--0.2%--2%facial numbness, slurred speech and swallowing difficulties--0.2%, postoperative headache and dizziness, hemorrhagic stroke--0.05%--12%. The study found, the complications in the young and elderly groups there was no statistically significant difference. The complications with the passage of time, can be recovered to different extent. In the recovery time, postoperative headache and dizziness, with facial paralysis patients recovered quickly, and hearing disorders in patients with the longest. Conclusion:the MVD operation in the treatment of HFS, long-term curative effect, and effective in elderly patients with HFS, security, is worthy of clinical promotion.
