Abstract Objective:To investigate the feasibility which microwave ablation lesions of pork livers in vitro were assessed by supersonic shear imaging (SSI) and the value of SSI in evaluating the effect of microwave ablation.Methods:20microwave ablation lesions in14pork livers which under identical operating parameters. The process was monitored in real-time by two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound and all the anteroposterior and left-right diameters of ablation lesions were measured by2D and SSI in the maximum cross sections immediately after the ablation. In addition, Yong modulus was performed on the pork livers before and immediately after ablation and took the average values. All figures were obtained by3measurements, and then took average values. The experiment specimens were analyzed by pathological examination after ablation. Results:First:The difference between the left-right diameter of the focus immediately measured with2D after the microwave ablation and the left-right diameter of the gross specimen is statistically significant; The difference between the anteroposterior diameter&left-right diameter of the focus immediately measured with SSI after the microwave ablation and the anteroposterior diameter&left-right diameter of the gross specimen is not statistically significant. Second:There were significant differences when comparing the average values of Yong modulus before and after the experiment. Third:Coagulation necroses of20ablation lesions were pathologically proven. Conclusion:Proved by pathology, it is feasible to assess the scope of the focus immediately coagulating after microwave ablation with SSI, and has superiority over2D. SSI can quantitatively analyze the change of stiffness before and after immediately microwave ablation, and contribute to assess the effect of microwave ablation.14Charts,5Forms,41References...
