Objective:To evaluate the clinical value of fast-track surgery treatments, as compared with traditional treatments, in patients undergoing radical cystectomy and ileal conduit diversion. Methods:Comparative study of47cases (during September2010to November2012) of bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy and ileal conduit diversion, fast-track surgery program (n=26) and traditional treatment program(n=21) were taken continuously, postoperative hospital stay, hospital charges, the first bowel movement and the incidence of complications, stress serum were compared. Results:Two groups of patients were cured. In FTS group, first bowel movement (3.12±0.65d vs3.81±0.81d P<0.05), hospital costs (4.80±0.46vs5.52±0.67P<0.05) and length of stay (9.85±1.46d vs12.62±2.33d P<0.05) were significantly better than those in traditional group(P<0.05).FTS group on recovery of stress and immune function was better than traditional group. However, no significant difference between the two groups of complications (5vs9P>0.05) was found.Conclusion:Fast-track surgery program is a safe and effective method for patients undergoing radical cystectomy and ileal conduit diversion. Fast-track surgery treatment has the advantages of reducing the length of stay, hospital costs, and improving the recovery of postoperative stress and immune function, compared with traditional treatment.
