Determinants Of Adult Epilepsy Patients’ Quality Of Life

Objective:The quality of life (QOL) and related determinants of adult epilepsy patients in Yueyang area are investigated from the aspects of demography, social psychology and clinical perspective to understand the status of the region QOL in adult epilepsy patients, to explore the determinants of adult epilepsy patients’QOL and to provide the theoretical basis and reference frame for future interventions.Methods:In this study, the sample objects are selected by multistage cluster random sampling method. Epilepsy epidemiology specific questionnaire and Quality of Life in Epilepsy Inventory-31(QOLIE-31) are used in this cross-sectional study. Refered data processing methods includes two-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson productmoment correlation method.Results:1, This study includes60epilepsy patients. The maximum age is72, the minimum age is15, x±s is43.62±15.38. Low educational level patients account for76.7%.,mateless patients account for76.7%, male patients account for56.7%, rural patients account for61.7%, farmer patients account for48.3%, unemployed patients account for20%of all the objects. The x±s of QOL total points is56.83±18.41.2、All score performances of high educational level patients are better than Low educational level patients, in which the differences of life satisfaction, QOL total points are statistically significant (p<0.05).3, Attack worries and the influence of drugs scores of patients which have had seizures in past1year are lower than the others. The influence of drugs scores of patients which have had seizures in past2year is lower than the others. The scores of patients which have had seizures in past5years are lower than the others in the aspects of Attack worries, cognitive function, the influence of drugs, social function and QOL total points (p <0.05).4、Patients with different seizure frequency have differential scores in the aspects of Attack fears and the influence of drugs (p<0.05), and the general trend is the higher seizure frequency, the lower scores.5、Cognitive function score of patients which are being treated is lower than patients without treatment (p<0.05).Conclusion:Low level of education, treated in the past week, seizure and high seizure frequency are the determinants of edult epilepsy patients’QOL.
