OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the application effect of a neotype medical drainage bag in clinical care.METHODS:This study was a randomized control trial. We selected206patients needing indwelling drainage bags and being hospitalized in the department of surgery (2011.5-2011.11). They were randomly and equally divided into the observation group and the control group, each group contained103patients. The observation group used our neotype drainage bags, while the control group used the conventional ones. We evaluated the effect by multi-indicators such as the time required to replace the drainage bags, the incidence of the bags detached, the draining fluid splashing rate during the replacement of the bags, the draining fluid leakage rate during using the bags and the positive rate of bacterial culture at the joint of the drainage bags. All these dates were collected and analyzed statistically by spss13.0.RESULTS:In the study, there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in age, sex, drainage positon and degree of education between two groups.1.The comparison of the replacement time of different drainage bag:the observation group was87.33±7.38seconds,while the control group was127.00±15.06seconds. There was significant difference (t=-12.956, P<0.01) between two groups.2.The comparison of the draining fluid splashing rate during the replacement of the bags:the observation group was2.49%, while the control group was20.40%. There was significant difference (χ2=31.71, P<0.01) between two groups.3.The comparison of the incidence of the bags detached:the observation group was0.97%, while the control group was7.77%. There was significant difference (χ2=4.18, P<0.05) between two groups.4.The comparison of the draining fluid leakage rate during using the bags:the observation group was1.94%, while the control group was8.74%. There was significant difference(χ2=4.71, P<0.05) between the two groups. 5.The comparison of the positive rate of bacterial culture at the joint of the drainage bags before the first time to replacement the drainage bags after operation (the third day of post-operation). There was no significant statistical difference (χ2=1.353,P>0.05) between the two groups. The comparison of the positive rate of bacterial culture at the joint of the drainage bags before the second time to replace the drainage bags after operation (the sixth day of post-operation). There was no significant statistical difference (χ2=0.51, P>0.05) between the two groups.CONCLUSION:Compared with using the conventional drainage bag, using the neotype one can save time and prevent the bags detached, draining fluid splashing and draining fluid leakage.
