Study On Epidemiological Features Of The Meningococcal Disease In Luan City From2003to2012

Object To understand the epidemiological characteristics andvaccination and bacterium variation of the Meningococcal disease inLu’an city in Anhui from2003to2012, and to provide evidence forimproving the prevention and controlling work.Methods Meningococcal disease Surveillance System is established. Theepidemiologic data from Meningococcal disease Surveillance Systemand the National Diseases Reporting Information System during2003-2012were analyzed.Results During2003to2012,127cases of the Meningococcal diseasewere reported, The annual average incidence rate was0.230/105, theincidence rate was higher in2004(0.539/105) and in2008(0.316/105), waslowest in2011and2012(0.014/105).7patients were died. The annualaverage mortality rate was0.013/105, and the fatality rate was5.51%.The fatality rate was higher in2003(33.33) and2005(18.18%).The cases in Huoqiu and Huoshan and Shucheng were82.68%(105/127) of the cases in all7countys in Lu’an city.Meningococcal disease clustering was investigated in huoshancounty in2004,33cases were reported in16days on8schools, one casewas died,and the Morbidity rate was9.02/105. Another Meningococcaldisease clustering was investigated in huoqiu county in2008,9caseswere reported in10days on one school, and the Morbidity rate was0.72%.The cases aged from5months to75. High incidence of age group ofthe cases were10-19and most cases were students.10strains of Serogroup C were separated and C group Antigen was found in7cases.The incidence peak was found during December to following April,specially March.Discussion The epidemiological periodicity of the MeningococcalDisease was because of the people’s immunization situation.Sero-group C replaced sero-group A as the most predominantsero-group and the incidence of Meningococcal disease substantiallyincreased after2003in Lu’an city. The important work were florachanging monitoring because of another Sero-group Meningococcaldisease were reported on surrounding region. TO find and investigatethe Meningococcal disease clustering in time was very important too.Conclusion Serogroup C is a prevalent strain in Lu’an city now. We shouldtake synthetic control measures on health education, diseasesurveillance and immunization vaccine, specially in the schools.
