Objective:Investigate the medical staff hand-washing compliance in departmentwith high incidence of nosocomial infection.Method: During the April1th2013to June1th2013, according to the "handhygiene observation form", we analyzed the compliance and the effects of medicalstaff hand-washing in four departments which with high incidence of nosocomialinfection in2012(the3rd Cadre ward, Neurosurgery Dept., Respiratory Dept., ICU).Results:1. The total hand-washing compliance of medical works is55.96%,following by nurses80.70%, doctors65.60%, practical nurses55.60%, cleaner40.3%,interns35.20%. Nurse have the high hand-washing compliance (P <0.05).2. Hand-washingcompliance has negative correlation with hospital infection (P <0.05).3. The hand-washingcompliance are different because of operations. It can up to91.85%after contacting withblood, body fluids, secretions, excretions, wound dressing, and down to21.61%after movingfrom contaminated parts to cleaning parts on one patient.4. It’s no significantly differ effectsfor medical stuff using soap and waterless antiseptic agent wash hands(P <0.05). They usewaterless antiseptic agent more often.Conclusion:1. At present, the hand-washing compliance of the medical staff islow, the awareness is weak.2. Improving medical staff hand-washing compliance canprevent and reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections.3. Hand-washing compliance aredifferent because of operations. Medical stuff showed higher compliance when there isobvious contaminations such as blood etc..4. There were no significantly different effectsusing what kinds of hand-washing cleaner. Waterless antiseptic agent were be chosen widelyand conveniently if no contraindications happen.
