Objective:This paper adopts the Eysenck PersonalityQuestionnaire (EPQ), visual analogue scales (VAS) to discussion thefollowing questions:1、Whether there is difference between patients’orthodontic treatment pain with different personality;2、 Whetherpsychological interventions can effectively alleviate pain in orthodontictreatment; What kind of psychological intervention can effectively relievepain in orthodontic treatment;3、 Whether different psychologicalinterventions is different to alleviate the patients’ orthodontic treatmentpain with different personality. Method: Selected patients who becausemalocclusion for treatment in orthodontic Department of StomatologyHospital Affiliated to Luzhou Medical College between2011May to2013January, age≥10, first wearing double jaw fixed straight wireappliance, participated in the study voluntarily, in accordance with theinclusion criteria included samples. According to randomly divided intofive groups: blank group (without any kind of psychologicalinterventions), music group (before fill in the table listen to an hour ofmusic, use music for psychological intervention), cognitive group (withcognitive education after the initial treatment, send out the cognitiveknowledge, use cognitive for psychological intervention), relaxed group (before fill in the table do the Head and facial muscle relaxation exercisesfor15minutes, use progressive muscle relaxation training forpsychological intervention), suggestion group (oral placebo after theinitial treatment2hour, then oral placebo every morning8:00after threedays,use placebo treatment for psychological intervention). To assess thepatients’ personality with EPQ, to assess the patients’ pain perception atdifferent time with the short form McGill Pain Questionnaire. Results:1.The relaxation of pain trend changing is basically consistent in blankgroup, cognitive group, music group, relaxed group, suggestion group;2、The blank group’s pain value is greater than the cognitive group, musicgroup, relaxed group, suggestion group in2h,6h,12h,24h,48h,72h,with a statistical significance (P <0.05);There is no significant statisticaldifference among cognitive group, music group, relaxed group,suggestion group (P>0.05);3、Extroverted or intermediate patientshas lower pain value than introverted patients in2h,6h,12h,24h,48h,72h, with a statistical significance (P<0.05);4、Emotional stability oremotional intermediate patients has lower pain value than emotionalinstability patients in2h,6h,12h,24h,48h,72h, with a statisticalsignificance (P <0.05);5、There are difference in orthodontic treatmentpain value with different personality and different emotional stabilityamong cognitive group, music group, relaxed group, suggestion group;but without statistical difference (P>0.05); Music group patients has lower pain value than cognitive group, relaxed group, suggestiongroup,with a statistical significance (P <0.05). Conclusion:1、The painvalue of introverted character patients is higher than the extrovertedcharacter patients; The pain value of unstable emotion patients is higherthan stable emotion patients;2、The psychological interventions ofcognitive, music, relaxed and implicative therapy is effective inalleviation of patients’ orthodontic treatment pain with differentpersonality;3、Music therapy is effective in orthodontic treatment painalleviation with extroverted character patients.
