Objective To analysis the changes of the ADC values at the same bvalue and time signal intensity curve in the pancreatic carcinoma, themass-forming focal pancreatitis and the normal pancreas, and to providethe important information to diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma andmass-forming focal pancreatitis. Methods All the examinations were performed in all patients with GE1.5T MRI system. The data was post-processed at ADW4.4workstation.Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) was performed in thirty cases ofpancreatic cancer patients (group A), eight cases of mass-forming focalpancreatitis (FP)(group B), thirty cases of the normal pancreas (group C).The dynamic enhancement was performed in eight cases with pancreaticcancer (group D) and twenty cases of the normal pancreas (group E).Underthe b value of0s/mm2and600s/mm2, respectively. The ADC values of thelesion regions, and the adjacent normal tissues were measured. Then thedata was treated with sample t-test. The dynamic enhancement wasperformed in eight cases with pancreatic cancer and confirmed by pathology (group D) and eight cases with mass-forming focal pancreatitis.Analysis time signal intensity curve (TIC), the data was compared withpancreatic cancer and mass-forming focal pancreatitis. Results Under the b value of600s/mm2, the ADC values of the focusregions and the remaining pancreas of group A and B were1.41±0.20×10-3,1.78±0.36×10-3,1.10±0.07×10-3,1.41±0.13×10-3, respectively. ADCvalues of lesion regions were lower than that of the remaining pancreas ofgroup A and group B (P <0.05). ADC value of group C was1.67±0.13×10-3. There was a statistical significance of ADC values among threegroups (P <0.05). The time signal intensity curve in group B and Dshowed that there were eight patients with type I (slow up and slowdown)including seven patients with the mass-forming focal pancreatitis, onepatient with pancreatic cancer and seven patients with typeⅡ(slow up andplatform)including seven patients with pancreatic cancer, twenty-onepatients with type Ⅲ (fast up and down) including twenty cases withnormal pancreas, one case with the mass-forming focal pancreatitis. Conclusion DWI sequence showed that ADC values of the pancreaticcancer and the mass-forming focal pancreatitis were lower than that of thenormal pancreas, the ADC value of the mass-forming focal pancreatitis waslower than that of the pancreatic cancer.3D-LAVA dynamic enhancedsequence showed the difference of the hemodynamic characteristics of thepancreatic cancer and mass-forming focal pancreatitis. Based on the above two methods for improving the early diagnosis of the pancreatic cancer, sothat patients get treatment as soon as possible.
