Appropriate energy is the critical ensurence for childrens’ optimalgrowth and development. Birth weight and feeding patterns are two of themost important factors, which affect infant energy requirements. Energyrequirements for low birth weight (LBW) infant depending on theirnutritional status, rate of growth, disease situation and so on, because thereis energy deficit in LBW. The energy needs of formula-fed infants is higherthan breast-fed infants. Energy intake may be changed with the time ofintroducing complementary foods during infancy.
