Objective: In order to study the infectious situation of Borna disease in Guizhouprovince in people and its correlation with neurological disorders (such as VE, MS,GBS and PD) in some areas of Guizhou province. Methods: Firstly, we had collected the neurological disorders in the affiliatedhospital of Zunyi medical college, the people’s hospital of Guizhou province, theaffiliated hospital of Guiyang medical college, the second People’s hospital ofGuiyang and the second affiliated hospital to guiyang college of traditional Chinesemedicine from October2012to June2013. There were65viral encephalitispatients,7Multiple sclerosis patients,9Guillain–Barre syndrome patients, and7Parkinson disease patients in the experimental group. There were93healthy peoplecollected from the affiliated hospital of Zunyi medical college in the control group.Secondly, we had used the established method to detect the BDV-CIC peripheralblood of88cases of patients with neurological disorders and93cases of healthypeople. Thirdly, we had detected the BDV specific antibody of the positive cases. Results: In88cases of peripheral blood in patients with neurological disorders, wedetected11positive samples of the BDV-CIC with a positive rate of12.6%(11/88).The positive rate was respectively9.2%(6/65) in virus encephalitis patients,28.6%(2/7) in Multiple sclerosis patients,33.3%(3/9) in Guillain-Barre syndrome patientsand0(0/9) in Parkinson’s disease patients. The positive plasma samples were alsodetected in the control group, and the positive rate was7.5%(7/93). The positiverate in neurological disorders patients was higher than that in healthy people, butthe differences had no statistical significance (P>0.05). Multiple sclerosis BDV-CIC detection rate was28.6%(2/7), compared with the control group, there was nostatistical significance (P>0.05). Guillain-barre syndrome BDV-CIC detection ratewas33.3%(3/9), compared with the control group, there was no statisticalsignificance (P>0.05). Parkinson’s disease BDV-CIC detection rate was0%(0/7), compared with the control group, there was no statistical significance (P>0.05). Inthe11cases of BDV-CIC positive samples, there were6cases with BDV antibodypositive, the double positive rate was6/11(54.5%).And in the7cases of BDV-CICpositive samples, there were5cases of BDV antibody positive, the doublepositive rate was71.4%(5/7).Conclusion: The result illustrates the situation of BDV infection in people inGuizhou Province. And in our study the data indicates that the BDV infection ispossiblely presented in virus encephalitis patients, Multiple sclerosis patients,Guillain-Barre syndrome patients in Guizhou province. There may be somerelations between BDV infection and the occurrence of Guillain-Barre syndrome, there are no relations between BDV infection and the occurrence of viralencephalitis, Multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson disease.
