Objective:To evaluate the effect and mechanism of tibial nerve branches innervating thegastrocnemius on Tibial Bone Quality.Methods:30rabbits were randomly divided into3groups, Neurectomy group、normalgroup and sham group. Neurectomy group received bilateral selective neurectomy of motorbranches of tibial nerve innervating the gastrocnemius muscle, Sham group undergoessham operation. The rabbits were killed at6months after the nerve is cut off, and get thetibia for μCT50and Lunar Prodigy Advance densitometer examination.Results:6months later, The BVF、Tb.N and Tb.Th of Neurectomy group was lower thannormal group and sham group(P<0.05), Tb.Sp and SMI of neurectomy group were higherthan normal group and sham group (P<0.05). There no difference inBVF、Tb.Sp、SMI、Tb.N and Tb.Th between normal group and sham group(P>0.05). Therewere no difference in bone density among the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:Selective neurectomy of tibial nerve branches innervating the gastrocnemiusmuscle induce osteoporosis.
