Prupose: This purpose of our study was to retrospectively analyze the clinical characteristics andprognosis of cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia(acute non-promyelocytic leukemia)(non M3CN-AML) with high Evi1expression.Method: Sixty two patients in total with non M3CN-AML were enrolled at our hospital betweenJune2009and June2012. Clinical characteristics, treatment response, overall survival (OS) anddisease-free survival (DFS) had been had been comparatively and statistically analyzed between20patients with high Evi1expression and42patients without high Evi1expression.Result: Compared to patients without high Evi1expression, patients with high Evi1expressionhad lower WBC count (P=0.001) and higher PLT count (P=0.003), and they had lower CR rate(P=0.013) and death rate (P=0.013) and shorter OS (P=0.026) and DFS (P=0.014). Age(P=0.004),FAB type(P=0.003), and EVI1+(P=0.026) were risk factors to CR. Patients who were over45years and those whose FAB type were AML-M5were tend to have a lower CR rate. Higher PLTcount (P=0.045) and high Evi1expression (P=0.026) to OS and FAB type (P=0.042)and high Evi1expression(P=0.026) to DFS were main risk factors. While, CR and HSCT (HR<1.0) wereprotective factors to OS and DFS. Conclusion: EVI1+is a high-risk factor for non M3CN-AML patients and predicts poorprognosis.
