Artificial joint replacement is a surgery to repair and rebuild the joint movementfunction. According to the statistical analysis, the aseptic loosening of the artificialjoint is the most important reason leading to the failure of the repair surgery. However,the clinical is still a lack of a simple and effective early diagnosis method for theaseptic loosening of the artificial joint.The main research object of this paper is the artificial hip joint, and this papercalculates the contact area between the artificial joint and cancellous bone, throughregular sampling medical images of artificial joints. According to the changes of thecontact area,this paper can early diagnose the aseptic loosening of artificial joint,thenprovide a reliable basis for rehabilitation therapy.Because the artificial joint medical image has the features of fuzzy boundaryuneven, easily affected by the noise pollution and so on, lead to the image processingalgorithm directly affects the accuracy of the contact area calculation results. First startfrom the image filter processing then combined with the mathematical morphologytheory, this paper proposes an adaptive multiscale morphological filtering algorithm.Based on combining size scale structure element and adaptive to determine weights,the noise in medical images can be filtered out effectively, meanwhile, the imagedetails is retained preferably.Secondly, Watershed segmentation algorithm is a regional segmentation methodwhich based on mathematical morphology. Because it can get the single-pixel width,precise positioning, continuous closed segmentation edge, it is widely used.However,traditional watershed segmentation algorithm has serious over-segmentationproblems affecting the real objective extraction. To solve this problem, this paperpropose an improved medical image watershed segmentation algorithm. Over-segmentation phenomenon is suppressed effectively by performing a pretreatment onartificial joint medical image before the watershed transform and region merging after the watershed transform.Finally, boundary contact pixels are counted based on the above Imagesegmentation results,then get the contact area between the artificial joints andcancellous bone. The results provide a reliable diagnosis basis for the asepticloosening of the artificial joint and it has strong clinical significance and value.
