PurposeBrachytherapy with radioactive particles of I125is more and more attent by domestic andforeign scholars for its good effect on normal tissue damage, target tissue dosedistribution, health care security, etc. But the basis of experimental studies relativelylagging behind, and it was still can not fully explain some clinicalcomplications. With this subject,we made experimental research combined with clinicalfindings to explore the part of the law in order to guide future clinical use to reduce theformation of post-operative complications and improve efficacy.MethodsRecording all the basic indicators of the experimental rabbits which were divided intogroups A,B and C,and implanted the radioactive particles of I125 with thesingle-double dose and shell particles into the surface of the mandible.Routining bloodexamination, biochemical, observing the basic indicators (mental state, eating, weight, etc.), observed experimental animals basic vital signs and taking mandibular specimensunder anesthesia on,30,60,90days to consolidate the results. Analyzing contrastmandibular damage by pathology slices underwent HE staining and electron microscopygrinding obtained consolidated resultsResultsComparative analysis of the various vital signs found that single-double dose group and shell particles group to show a downward trend in food intake, body weight, and itwould recovered after reaching the peak, but the double-dose group Was much slowerthan Single-dose group with statistical significance. Laboratory examination just asWBC、ALT、Cr,we found it has no statistically significant. We also found it was aslight injury on normal tissue with the single dose by pathology, and graduallyreturned to normal after the half-life. But the mandibular injury of double-dosegroup,had its persistent injury and delay the recovery time.ConclusionsThe Mandible radiation injury with radioactive particles of I125is limited to a specificorganizational characteristics of the maxillofacial, and it is important to make topicalintervention when the dose peaked. And its radiological impact to the local effects thansystemic reactions which caused by local irritation and maxillofacial specific anatomicalstructures, the physiological role, because it has the smaller impact of changes in thesystemic blood of liver and kidney function alone. We also found it has good securityused in clinically safe dose, but overdose using easily cause the mandible obvious tissuedamage. And it is also important to establish an animal experimental model just as themaxillofacial organization wide excision or animal in cancer condition of experimentalstudy of the maxillofacial tissue damage.
