Changes Of T Lymphocyte Subsets In Patients Of Hashimoto’s Threated With Selenium

ObjectiveTo observe the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in hashimoto’s thyroiditis before and after the treatment with selenium. Investigate the occurrence of selenium with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, immunological mechanisms in the development, further establish selenium status and significance of the treatment of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.MethodsA total of96patients with hashimoto’s thyroiditis were divided into2groups:one group(46/96) was treated with selenium and the other(50/96) received conventional therapy. All patients were followed up for6months. Thyroid peroxidase antibodies, thyroglobulin antibodies and peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets were tested at baseline and after treatment. ResultsWere followed up for6months, patients in the selenium treated group, their CD4+T cell subsets levels:45.24±6.04%; the control group, CD4+T cell subsets levels:29.32±4.67%; And the selenium treated group, CD4/CD8ratio:1.71±0.89; the control group, CD4/CD8ratio:1.21±0.35. Compared with the control group, patients in the selenium treated group had significant decreased levels of thyroid peroxidase antibodies and thyroglobulin antibodies after treatment. Furthermore, their CD4+T cell subsets and CD4/CD8ratio levels were increased significantly.(P<0.01).ConclusionsTreatment with selenium to hashimoto’s thyroiditis has positive effect, the mechanism was related with lymphocyte subsets. Improve Hashimoto’s disease CD4+T cell values and increase the CD4+/CD8+ratio of selenium supplementation therapy. Selenium supplementation therapy can to improve Thl/Th2imbalance, so as to achieve the immunomodulatory function, improve the prognosis of Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
