Root canal therapy is a fundamental method of trcating pulpal and periapical diseases nowadays. Whether the root canal be well shaped and sealed strictly or not is critical to a successful root canal therapy. There are two parts in this study, the fist part is to compare the shaping ability of curved root canal preparation between different preparing methods; the second part is to study effects of different canal obturation methods on teeth with chronic apical perodontitis.Part I compare the shaping ability of curved root canal preparation between the different instruments. Objective:To compare the shaping ability of curved root canal preparation between the techniques of using TF files and nickel-titanium rotary Pro Tape. Methods:forty resin root with a30°single curved canals randomly divided into two groups of20teeth each. The first group were prepared by TF files according to crown-down technique (group TF); The second group were prepared by nickel-titanium rotary Pro Taper files also according to crown-down technique (group PT). And collect pictures after finish preparing root canal, all the pictures were evaluated by Photoshop cs5.0and SIDEXIS software. All data used spss!7.0statistical package for analysis of variance, the probability was considered as0.05. Results:the level of angular misalignment on group IF is much less than group PT. Conclusion:After prepared by TF files, the root could keep the curvature and tendency before prepared. It can be advocated as a new instrumentation technique, especially for chose curved root canals.Part II clinical efficacy of warm gutta-percha vertical condensation technique on the teeth with chronic apical periodontitis Objective:To study of continuous wave of gutta-percha vertical condensation technique on the curative effect teeth with chronic apical periodontitis and the usage of assessment index. Methods:twenty patients whose teeth gets chronic apical periodontitis need to root canal therapy are divided into A and B groups of10teeth each by registration order. The group A is filled by continuous wave of gutta-percha vertical condensation technique, and the group B is filled by cold lateral condersation technique. All of the patients would to be reexamined after a year. The curative effects were evaluated based on clinical examination and radiographic assessment using periapical index(PAI). Results: Statistical significance difference for the overall healing rates between the two groups(P <0.05), the healing rates in group A were significantly higher than group B. Conclusion:1. The continuous wave of gutta-percha vertical condensation technique is a simple operation, less postoperative reaction, curative effect definite, and is a kind of more ideal root canal filling technology.2. The PAI system is worth of utilizing popularly in the clinical dentistry.
