ObjectivesTo explore the level of serum melatonin and estrogen in women patients withFunctional dyspepsia, further to evaluate the possible mechanism of FD, use theeffective treatments on FD and diagnose various clinical forms of FD.MethodsSixty female patients according with Roman Ⅲ diagnostic criteria of FDwerediagnosed as experimental group, and were divided into two groups: one wasepigastric pain syndrome(EPS) including thirty-five cases, the other was postprandialdistress syndrome(PDS) including twenty-five cases. And thirty healthy person werechoosed as controls. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to examine thelevel of serum melatonin. we choosed thirty Perimenopausal patients as experimentalgroup in FD, and we choosed twenty Perimenopausal patients as controls in thehealthy person, Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to examine the levelof serum estrogen. IN FD, the conditions of dyspepsia symptom were assessed bydyspepsia symptom scale. All values were be analyzed by independent sample T Test,Oneway ANOVA, Pearson correlation respectively, Spearman correlationrespectively.Results1. In group FD and group PDS, the concentration of serum melatonin wasobviously higher than that in control, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). In group PDS, The concentration of serum melatonin was significantlyhigher than that group EPS(P<0.05). But there was no significant difference betweenthe concentration of serum melatonin in group EPS and group control (P>0.05). 2. In group FD(menopausal transition), the concentration of serum estrogen wassignificantly lower than that in control (P<0.05).3. In group FD(menopausal transition), there was no significant correlations withthe level of serum melatonin and estrogen (P>0.05).4. In group PDS, there were significant positive correlations with the degree ofthe Dyspepsia symptom and serum melatonin (P<0.01).5. In group FD(menopausal transition), there were significant negativecorrelations with the degree of the Dyspepsia symptom and serum estrogen (P<0.01).Conclusions1.The alteration of serum melatonin may play a role in the pathogenesis of FDespecially PDS, and has no obvious relation with EPS.2. Serum melatonin level maybe have a certain significance to various clinicalforms of FD.3. The alteration of serum estrogen may play a role in the development of FD.supplement exogenous estrogen may improve symptoms of FD patients withperimenopausal symptoms.
