Objective:To study the relationship between malaria incidence and migrant history of migrant farmer workers and their family members, and provide scientific basis for controlling and preventing malaria effectively in migrant farmer workers and their family members. Methods:Malaria incidence, migrant type, returning situation of migrant farmer workers and their family members during the period from2007to2009were investigated retrospectively in20villages from4counties with general investigation method. Malaria incidence of different migrant types was studied. Malaria incidence between returning migrant farmer workers and not returning migrant farmer workers in malaria transmission was compared. Infect malaria risk of returning migrant farmer worker was evaluated.Results:53malaria cases occurred in migrant farmer workers in2007-2009. Incidence of malaria in migrant one year, two years, three years, four years and more than four years population was33.4per ten thousand,21.2per ten thousand,8.8per ten thousand,8.2per ten thousand, respectively. There was no significant difference between migrant one year population and migrant two years population (P>0.05) There was significant difference between migrant one year population and migrant three years, migrant four or more years population (P<0.01). Malaria incidence in returning migrant population and not returning migrant population was22.1per ten thousand and9.7per ten thousand, respectively. There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Malaria incidence of retuning and not returning population in migrant one year and two years population was37.5per ten thousand,24.4per ten thousand,30.6per ten thousand,19.0per ten thousand. There was no significant difference between returning and not returning population (P>0.05). But there was significant difference between returning population and not returning population in migrant three years, four or more years population (P<0.01). Ratio of malaria incidence in migrant three years, four or more years population (17/9626) and local population (412/68801) was1/3.39(OR=0.294,95%CI:0.181-0.477).Conclusions:Migrant one year, migrant two years population and returning population in migrant three years, and migrant four or more year population in malaria transmission season were key population. In order to prevent malaria spread from high malaria prevalent area to low malaria prevalent area and reach malaria elimination goal as soon as possible, we should strengthen intervention for the population. Objective:To investigate health education needs of migrant farmer workers and their family members in Bo prefecture and to provide a scientific basis for the effective implementation of health education interventions. Methods:health education needs of13979migrant farmer workers and their family members in2009from20administrative villages of4counties in Bozhou prefecture were inveatigated by trained investigators with questionnaire and the data were analyzed statistically. Results:Awareness rate of migrant farmer workers and their family members on malaria prevention knowledge was only48.4%. Free treatment policy awareness rate ranked first (92.6%). Awareness rate on falciparum malaria and insecticide impregnation of mosquito net was9.3%,2.1%respectively.46.1%of the people were willing to use mosquito net.32.8%of the febrile patients went to clinic timely. Only3.0%people used insecticides impregnated bednets. They got knowledge about malaria prevention and control mainly from radio and television.93.6%of the people hoped to learn more knowledge about the prevention and treatment of malaria. The favorite way for the people was explaination of doctors. Conclusions:Awareness on malaria knowledge of the migrant farmer workers and their family members was poor. We should strengthen health education on malaria prevention and control for the population using effective way.
