Objective1.Analysis the schistosome epidemic features and trends in Jurong City from2000to2010.2.To understand and clarify the disease burden of advanced schistosomiasis.3.Analysis and evaluate the effect of schistosomiasis controled in hilly areas of Jurong City.4.Provide the basis of the scientific,effective and feasible for schistosomiasis field.And accumulated valuable experience for controlling of schistosomia in hilly areas.MethodUsing current research method and spraying drugs comprehensively to extinguish oncomelania; change environment to eradicate oncomelania,accompanied with treatments of health education; observe longitudinally the oncomelania areas, the schistosomiasis infection of human beings, and the rates of knowledge of schistosome to prevention and cure.The present registered advanced schistosomiasis cases in Jurong City were surveyed with a questionnaire by employing epidemiological,health statistic and health economic methods,and the economic and social burden of advanced schistosomiasis cases were measured.Results1.There were no infected snail from2005to2010.The densities of living snails and areas with snails decreased year by year.Residents’ positive detection rate of schistosomiasis decreased from1.31%to0.00%from2000to2010.The correlation analysis show that there was a negative correlation between oncomelania areas and drug coverage areas(r=-0.787,P<0.05);there was no correlation between oncomelania areas and coverage rate of snail control by environmental modification(r=-0.309,P>0.05);there was no correlation between positive rate of schistosomiasis in resident And coverage rate of snail control with molluscisides,and coverage rate of snail control by environmental modification(r=-0.380,-0.297,all P>0.05);there was a negative correlation between oncomelania areas and areas of snail control with molluscicides (r=-0.603,P<0.05). There was a negative correlation between densities of living snails and years (r=-0.809,P<0.01).2.Residents and students’ knowledge about schistosomiasis prevention awareness rate increased year by year.The rate of students,and citizens’ knowledge of schistosome on prevention of the disease increased from72.2%and77.9%to96.58%and92.83%from2000to2010,respectively. The correlation analysis show that there was a negative correlation between students’ and residents knowledge about schistosomiasi between years(r=0.973, P<0.001, r=0.963, P<0.001).3.The direct economic burden of advanced schistosomiasis in Jurong City was489634Yuan,and the indirect economic burden was632237Yuan.The mean assistance fee for advanced schistosomiasis patients was5000Yuan per capita at present.In the questionnaire survey,77.2%of the patients thought that advanced schistosomiasis had certain impact on their family and psychology.The satisfaction degree in all sides were above85%.Nevertheless,83.5%of the patients still had certain aspects of demands that were urgent to be solved besides the assistance.Conclusions1.Taking with comprehensive prevention of control snail using niclosamide drugs can control the transmission of schistosomiasis obviously in Hilly Area.The comprehensive prevention and control of control snail,human and animal screening chemotherapy is significant.Control snail and chemotherapy is the most direct and effective measures to prevent and control schistosomiasis.2.Advanced schistosomiasis has certain impact on the family and social economics in Jurong City.To reduce the burden mostly depend on the concems from the govermentand the effective performance of the control programme as well as implementation of the assistance approaches.
