Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of120W high-performance system (HPS) laser photoselective vaporization of the prostate in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods The patient outcomes were evaluated for the200patients who had undergone PVP with GreenLight HPS laser from June2008to June2011in one institution. Study on the effect and prognosis of120W HPS-PVP in treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia in three parts. The baseline and evaluations included International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), maximum flow rate (Qmax), postvoid residual (PVR) and transrectal ultrasound-determined prostate volume. These parameters were assessed at1,3,6,12, and24months. Then compare the hemorrhage risk between the patients who take anticoagulant drugs and who don’t.Results A total of200consecutive patients, with a mean age of72.1years, underwent PVP with a120-WHPS laser. We observed no bleeding complications necessitating blood trans fusions. Significant improvements were observed postoperatively in the mean International Prostate Symptom Score, quality of life score, maximal urinary flow rate, and postvoid residual urine volume. Atl,3,6,12, and24mo postoperatively, improvement of the International Prostate Symptom Score ranged from65-70%; postvoid residual volume81-84%; and average maximum urinary flow rate,110-135%, respectively.120W-HPS GreenLight is usefull in the enucleation of the prostate, and it is effect and safy enough. Conclusions The study show that of PVP with120W-HPS GreenLight laser is a safe and effective treatment for the treatment of obstructive BPH.120W-HPS GreenLight is usefull in the enucleation of the prostate. Taking Anticoagulant drugs has no effect on the hemorrhage risk of HPS-PVP.
