| Objective:To observe the changes of carotid arterial intima-media thickness (IMT) and the level of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the association between ADMA and RA activity index and intima-media thickness of carotid artery in RA,Furthermore to explore the risk factors of atherosclerosis of RA.Method:1.60patients with RA were selected,30cases of healthy control group were selected.2. According to the carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) value, the patients with RA were divided into two groups, thirty-nine patients whose IMT≥1.0mm were classified as RA with atherosclerosis group, twenty-one patients whose IMT<1.0mm as RA with no atherosclerosis group.3. The gender, age. height, weight, blood glucose, blood lipid, blood pressure, ADMA. plasma homocysteine. carotid artery intima-media thickness (IMT) of all subjects were recorded.4. RA patients were also needed to test:rheumatoid factor (RF), the value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (ACP) antibody titers, DAS28, CDAI, SDAI, ESR, C reactive protein (CRP) and the course of disease.Result 1. The ADMA levels of RA with atherosclerosis group was greater than that of RA with no atherosclerosis group2. The ADMA of RA patients with no atherosclerosis group was greater than that of the healthy control group3. The plasma levels of ADMA were positively correlated with RA disease activity index.4. The IMF in RA were greater than those in the healthy controls, IMT were correlated with disease activity index5. The plasma levels of ADMA were correlated with IMT in RA patients.Conclusion1. RA patients were susceptible to atherosclerosis, the disease activity of RA was related to atherosclerosis.2. ADMA was related to the disease activities in RA,which could be used as RA disease activity index.3. The plasma levels of ADMA were related to atherosclerosis, which could be used as indicators of RA complicated with atherosclerosis. |
