Aim:To investigate the role of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C in colon cancer by examining the expression of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C and their significance in colon cancer. Methods:Use MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C expression detected by immunohistochemistry of30colon carcinoma and their normal colonic tissue. The relationship between the staining expression and clinicopathological features including sex, age, tumor size, Dukes stage, pathological grade, and lymph node metastasis was examined.Results:①The MMP-2positive rate of30colon cancer tissues is73.3%(22/30), MMP-2positive rate is10%(3/30) of normal colonic tissue, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The VEGF-C positive rate of30colon cancer tissues is66.7%(20/30); The MMP-14positive rate of30colon cancer tissues is80%(24/30), MMP-14positive rate is13.3%(4/30) of normal colonic tissue, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); VEGF-C positive rate is16.7%(5/30) of normal colonic tissue, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).②The MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C expression has relationship with tumor size, Dukes stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), is unrelated with sex, age and histological grade (P>0.05).③Between MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C are a synergistic effec (P<0.05).④There were16colon cancer specimens with high co-expression of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C in30colon cancer specimens and high co-expression of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C was associated with Dukes stage, pathological grade and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).Conclusion:The expressions of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C in colon cancer tissues are higher than normal colonic tissue. The MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C expression has relationship with tumor size, Dukes stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), is unrelated with sex, age and histological grade (P>0.05). Between MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C are a synergistic effec. The higher expression of MMP-2, MMP-14and VEGF-C at the same time prompting the higher degree of invasion and metastasis of tumor.
