| Objective：To observe the healing of osteoporotic fracture and to study assistanttherapy effects of nitroglycerin on the healing of fracture in ovariectomized rats.Methods：Sixty six-month-old female wistar rats were randomized into twogroups:twelve for sham-operated (A) group and the others for ovariestomized(OVX) group. Twelve weeks later, the bone mineral density (BMD) of rightfemur determined, confirmed osteoporosis modeling successfully.All the60ratswere made into fracture of right femur model. And the OVX rats were furtherrandomized into low dose nitroglycerin(B) group, middle dose nitroglycerin (C)group, high dose nitroglycerin (D) group, and controlled group (E). The OVXrats was intragastric administration of different doses of nitroglycerin(nitroglycerin, NTG) daily,4and8weeks, six rats in each group were randomlyselected, measuring the bone mineral density of right femur with dual-energyX-ray absorptiometry measurements, comparing fracture healing withX-ray,comparing nitric oxide (nitric oxide, NO) concentration with nitric oxidekit，observing the number, size, shape of trabecular in bone callus grouply.Results: Concentration of NO in the body of B, C and D group are highercomparing with the E group；healing of fracture in B and C group are bettercomparing with the control group and the D group; a larger number of callus atthe trabecular bone in B and C group.Conclusion: low-dose, medium-dose nitroglycerin promote the healing offractures, high doses of nitroglycerin can not promote the healing of fractures. |
