Study On The Correlation Of Galectin‐4and β‐Catenin Expression To Early Recurrence Of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

ObjectiveThe expression of Galectin-4and β-catenin proteins in HCC (hepatocellularcarcinoma) were detected to study the correlation of Galectin-4and β-cateninexpression to early recurrence of HCC.MethodsTissue chips were constructed, which contained HCC, non-neoplastic adjacent livertissues, and normal liver tissues. The expression of Galectin-4and β-catenin proteinin118cases of HCC samples,118non-neoplastic adjacent liver tissue samples and10normal liver tissues samples were detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC),simultaneously, fresh tissue samples consist of60cases of HCC samples,60non-neoplastic adjacent liver tissue samples and10normal liver tissues sampleswere detected by Western blot, and the correlations of Galectin-4and β-cateninprotein to clinicopathologic parameters of HCC were analyzed.Results1、The results of IHC and Western blot showed the expression of Galectin-4proteinin HCC was lower than that in the non-neoplastic adjacent liver tissues and normalliver tissues（P <0.05）.The expression of Galectin-4protein in HCC with early recurrence was lower than that in those without early recurrence（P <0.05）.Galectin-4protein was not associated with sex, age, AFP lever, tumor size andhistological type（P>0.05）,but associated with capsule invasion and portal veintumor thrombus（P <0.05）.2、The results of IHC and Western blot showed the disorder expression of β-cateninprotein in HCC was higher than that in the non-neoplastic adjacent liver tissues and normal liver tissue（sP <0.05）.The disorder expression of β-catenin protein in HCCwith early recurrence was higher than that in those without early recurrence（P <0.05）. The disorder expression of β-catenin protein was not associated with sex, age,AFP lever, tumor size（P>0.05）,but associated with histological type, capsuleinvasion and portal vein tumor thrombus（P <0.05）.3、No correlation between Galectin-4and β-catenin expression was found to theproceeding of early recurrence in HCC.（P>0.05）.Conclusions1、Loss of Galectin-4protein expression maybe closely associated with HCC early recurrence.2、Over-disorder expression of β-catenin protein on cytomembrane in HCC maybeclosely associated with early recurrence.3、No correlation between Galectin-4and β-catenin expression was found to theproceeding of early recurrence in HCC.4、Loss of Galectin-4expression and over-disorder expression of β-catenin in HCCplayed important roles in the proceeding of early recurrence and might predict anearly recurrent clinical behavior and associate with early recurrent potential inHCC.
