Objective To evaluate the association of the polymorphism of VDR gene FokI、BsmI、TaqI and ApaI sites and the genetic susceptibility of Hui and Han ethnic vitiligopatients in NingXia. To provide the reliable laboratory basis for the revelation of vitiligopathogenesis and the heredity characteristic. Methods Polymerase chain reaction sequence-restriction fragment lengthpolymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to analyze the distribution of alleles andgenotypes of the FokI、BsmI、TaqI and ApaI sites of the VDR gene in251Hui and Hanethnic patients with vitiligo and263normal controls in Ningxia. Statistical data is dealtwith SPSS13.0statistics software. If P-value is less than0.05, then the result can beconsidered meaningful. Results There was statistically significant difference in the frequencies of F and falleles of VDR FokI site between Hui ethnic vitiligo patients and Hui ethnic vitiligopatients in NingXia(P﹤0.05), the frequency of F allele in Hui ethnic vitiligo patientswas higher than that of the Han ethnic, but f allele was lower. There was statisticallysignificant difference in the frequencies of bb and Bb genetypes of VDR BsmI sitebetween the Hui ethnic vitiligo patients and Hui ethnic controls in NingXia(P﹤0.05),the frequency of bb genetype in the Hui ethnic vitiligo patients was higher than that ofthe Hui ethnic controls, but Bb genetype was lower. In addition, the frequency of bbgenetype and b allele of vitiligo patients were higher than that of the healthy controls inNingxia, but Bb genetype and B allele of vitiligo patients were lower than than ofcontrols. There was statistically significant difference in the frequencies of three genetypes and two alleles of VDR ApaI site between all of the Hui and Han ethnicvitiligo patients and controls in NingXia(P﹤0.05),the frequency of the aa genetype andthe a allele in all of the Hui and Han ethnic vitiligo patients were higher than that of theHui and Han ethnic controls, but the AA and Aa genetype and the A allele were lower. There was statistically significant difference in the frequencies of three genetypes andtwo alleles of VDR TaqI site between all of the Hui ethnic vitiligo patients and Huiethnic controls in NingXia(P﹤0.05),the frequency of TT、Tt genetypes and T allelewere higher than the Hui ethnic controls, but tt genetype and T allele were lower. In theHan ethnic patients with vitiligo the frequency of T allele was higher than that in Hanethnic normal controls, but the t allele was significantly lower. In the patients withvitiligo the frequency of TT、Tt genetypes were higher than that of normal controls, butthe tt genetype was lower.Conclusion1.The f allele of FokI site of the VDR gene was likely the protectfactor among Hui ethnic vitiligo patients.2.The bb genetype of BsmI site was likely thesusceptible factor among Hui ethnic vitiligo patients, however,Bb genetype was theprotect factor among Hui ethnic people; The b allele was likely the susceptible factoramong NingXia,but B was a protect factor.3.The aa genetype and a allele were likely thevitiligo susceptible factor among NingXia population, but AA、Aa genetypes and A allelewere the vitiligo protect factor.4.The TT、Tt genetypes were likely the susceptible factoramong Hui ethnic people of NingXia,and T allele was the protect factor of Han ethnicvitiligo patients.
